The Wild Wild West
“One should remain as a witness to whatever happens, adopting the attitude, ‘Let whatever strange things that happens happen, let us see!’ This should be one's practice. Nothing happens by accident in the divine scheme of things.”
- Ramana Maharishi
I survived my first winter in Wyoming… barely! I truly had no idea what I was signing up for when I embarked upon my adventure last September. It has been a beautiful and challenging year. From attending my first plant medicine retreat, to losing Bear, to completing a badass coaching course, to embarking on my lifelong dream of van life across the country, to getting ejected after flipping a car 1.5x, to launching my signature course, then having to take a sabbatical when it all became too much and I got sick for weeks, to needing three stitches in my face after getting bit by a dog, to adopting the sweetest rescue from the reservation, life has truly been a rollercoaster.
When I didn't listen to everything telling me to slow down, the universe made me. In the past, I would have allowed that negative self-talk to take over and gotten stressed out. I noticed something different about this chapter. As soon as I realized what needed to be done, I sat back and allowed myself to just be for a while. There was no guilt, no shame (okay, some, but not as much as normal), no fear, no forcing another outcome. Instead, I observed the changes in my physical body, my thoughts and my emotions without judgement and expectations. I was patient with my body gave myself the space to rest and gain strength. I spent time with people who cared about me and sought out things that bring me joy. I took the advice that I so often give, “You have to take care of yourself, before you can take care of anyone else.” While it was very physically, mentally and emotionally challenging, I am proud to say, I feel stronger and more grounded than ever before.
I’m exercising and practicing yoga again. I am no longer the service industry. I’m putting 110% of my energy back into my business. I’m working with mentors and coaches to continue to grow. I’m refining and creating new offerings to better serve you. I’m traveling more often and making space for the things that light me up! I know I am in alignment with my purpose. I know that I needed this insight to make me a better teacher and coach. I’m walking the walk and talking the talk. I’m living my yoga and damn, does it feel good. <3
Sincerely,
Alexis Casal
